so a coworker of mine asked if i had anything she could help with today because she's slow on her end and needed something to do...

NOICE...i have a shit ton of work piled up on my desk and I'm in the middle of doing three mass mailers of different types to different groups and it's taking a LOT Of my time...so I put her in charge of printing envelopes.

I gave her the list of companies and names, and advised to put "mr. or ms. as applicable" in front of each of the names, if it is for a physcian, just type out John Smith, MD or whatever initials follow....

I'm going through the very short stack she did for me and instead of MS...as instructed....she has addressed ALL of the female envelopes MRS.

this is a problem for me...what if these clients are single, divorced, or whatever...and get offended by the MRS...

in my opinion referring to someone as MS in as mailer is much more appropriate because you do not, in fact, know their marital status and to assume that they are ALL married is folly... (it's also the proper grammar...but whatever...)

Do I redo them or send them as is??? there are perhaps 10-15 total but it will actually take me closer to 45 minutes to redo them all because I have to dig out the list I gave her (which she chunked as opposed to returning to me...even though I told her I would need that list back for data entry purposes...) and figure out who belongs to what envelope (all the letters contain addresses on the letterhead, as is appropriate when typing a business letter....)

I'm incredibly OCD but I'm also a consumate professional....what do I do???

Why are you re-doing anything?  Make her do it.  She's the screw up.

If she's that slow maybe she won't notice if you give her the same list to do again.  hahahahaha

lol... maybe

but I'm thinking with this many typos I'd be better just redoing the lot and taking them home tonight to stuff...lil man will consider it "fun" to help mommy "work..." (cuz kids are weird that way...) and I'll just spend the afternoon printing the envelopes and spend the evening stuffing them :-)

Lol she doesn't handle any of the correspondence- that's what they pay me to do.

Needless to say I was shocked that she didn't know how to correctly address a professional envelope or write a letter... I've made it my mission to educate her now Lol

I would absolutely re do it, my boss pays a serious attention to detail and loves the spell check. So if it went out like that I'd probably get a passive aggressive comment or be laughed at.

No way I'd let that leave my desk, especially if it represents me as an employee by trusting somebody else to help. LOL
