just a plain sponge from the shop. I filled the center with jam and icing courtesy of betty crocker. Iced it straight from the freezer , but still got major crumb action. i should have turned it upside down , because when i tried ti sit the tains on the tracks they slid off. That is why the trains are around the side and one is sitting on a star of fondant to try limit the amount of icing in the wheels . they are tiny wind up trains that i found packaged together on clearance months ago.
the licorice train tracks did not cut easily with the cake , so when i sliced the cake the "tracks" dragged the icing off and cake into smush :) tasted good , even if it looked a mess.

well ,yep. if i could only fit one train , that was going to be the winner, because he is blue , Rohan can't   tell the difference between him and thomas . James got sent home as a gift for my nephew . The "tablecloth" in the photo thread was actually a play mat from showbag from the Thomas day out .
