we dont have a Wii  Grin  but I was really considering getting one lately...

we have a PS2 which I barely used until recently...I bought a couple of used kid games and the boys love it...I thought they might be too young to use the controllers but kid1 picked up quickly and kid2 could manage depending on the game played...I was seriously impressed with the hand-eye coordination but I really dont want them sitting on their butts hence Wii might be good...

I always thought the "everyone has one" thing was normal kid behavior. My simple full proof solution is just say "no".  Wink

It is normal kid behavior. I expect it from the kids.

But it is the PARENTS saying "He has to have one because everyone else does and poor little Snowflake will be left out if he doesn't have one too" That's what I don't get. Our sworn duty as parents is to say no to them. Hell, some days it seems like it is my only job.

the hubs and I enjoy the wii more than lil man does...though I've taken a new approach. For every hour of wii he plays he must ride his bike for a half hour... to balance it out. It's working pretty well! He goes and rides, gets good and sweaty, comes inside in the AC and still gets some exercise by playing the wii sports games.

I guess I've never really came across parents like this before.

My town has a scary number of them. They are really into keeping up with the Jones's kids, and truly worry about their kids being somehow rejected because of what they have/don't have. It is nuts.
