http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2010/02/scott-lee-cohen.htmlSo, we just had the primary on Tuesday and this guy won on the Democrat side.
The very next day, all these details of his sordid past come out (he allegedly used anabolic steroids, threatened/beat his ex-wife, met a prostitute at a massage parlor, dated her for several months and threatened her with a knife).
My first question is: in this world of mud-slinging politics, how did his opponents NOT know about this? Not that I am in favor of dredging up an ugly past, I'm shocked that these facts were not all over the typical smear ads!
Now, the nominee for Governor (Pat Quinn...current Governor who took over after Cap'n Hairdo, uh I mean Rod Blagojevich was indicted on a gazillion charges) and other members of the Democratic party want to just *change* who will be running with him on the ticket.
My second question is: you have people in your nominating committee who are supposed to be checking on these things. Why didn't you do your homework? This stuff is easily attainable with a FOIA request as it is public record.
My third question is: the people voted for the man, he won fair and square, so why should he be taken off the ballot? I don't have a problem with the party pressuring him to drop out and step aside or if he decides on his own to drop out, but the PEOPLE VOTED for him. It's like prop 8 in California - you can be angry all you want that gay marriage didn't pass but that was the WILL of the people, whether or not you agree with it.
How is it that no one knew about this until the day after the election?
