This may sound strange, but Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry.  I read it when I was on bedrest with Thing One, rolled my eyes that my mom sent me a western themed book, and then couldn't put it down.  I now refuse to watch the miniseries.

A new one for me this year.  Another one from my mom that I thought would make me yawn, but I loved it.  Going to the Sun by James McManus.  Sad.

There's also a pretty nice piece of juvenile fiction that Thing One just lent me:One of Those Hideous Books Where the Mother Dies, by Sonya Sones.  (you could read it in less than an hour, but it's well done, IMO.

Is that like "Girl With my Face?" I can't remember the author but a couple of his young adult books became Lifetime movies...

I'm not giving up, but it's not worth fighting for.
