No, I hear ya.  I've gained more than 20 lbs in the last 3 or 4 months, lots of stress and really bad eating habits.  The funny thing is I'd actually be MORE willing to do it NOW when I KNOW I'm not my perceived perfect self from before.  You have to remember, this isn't a nudist beach for supermodels or perfect people.

can I keep my bottoms on   I haz a shy ...the boobs are whatever...any swim suit I wear pretty much shows them in all their glory anyway...but the bottoms... well... some stuff is private? 

beaches are usually OK with whatever level of nudity you are comfortable with . Most clubs are all or nothing as wearing a "little" bit of clothing is seen as being dressed provocatively . Although many women wear a small sarong or shawl around hips when AF is visiting .
With skin cancer issues , it is often more acceptable to be wearing a t-shirt to protect upper body / shoulders from sun and no bottoms . probably one of the main ways you can tell naturists at a nude beach or those just trying to avoid tan lines is if they are "top less" (tanners) or "bottomless" (naturists who are careful of getting shoulders burnt )
Most women are mostly "tucked away" so lower body nudity is not that big an issue as long as you sit with some decorum No matter how big a naturist , lover of both genders ,hippy , whatever i may be , i still want to gag if a naked woman is sitting like a truck driver in a social setting .
 nudists/naturists are not phased by other peoples stretch marks, age changes , scars and things .
Men with hat racks ? hold your towel over your arm and head for the water until things calm down :)
