How old were you kids when you allowed them to play outside without constant supervision?

Now that mine are 3, 5, and 8, I feel comfortable letting them play in the front yard together while I make dinner.  Our back yard is fenced, so they've always been tossed out back, but now they want to play in the front with neighbor kids.

What do you think?  Should I put out a big welcome sign for child molesters and kidnappers, or is playing in a group like this okay?

Discuss.

I think my boys were around 8 when I started letting them play outside unsupervised.
