Right now, since the weather in the conus is quiet, I'm keeping an eye on Hurricane Gustav.

It's strengthened from a TS in one day so it's raring to do some damage.

Haiti and the Dominican Republic are going to get soaked today then discussions become rather vague on the path for the next several days.  Models are in some disagreement on whether or not the storm will turn left towards the Yucatan, or move more easterly into the Gulf of Mexico.

Whatever the path, this storm WILL intensify and become a major hurricane over the next 36-48 hours.

My best guess right now is that it will turn left but wait some time, and hit the Mexican mainland (not the Yucatan but further north).

Hey wires, hope all is safe and sound. I was on checking your local news this morning and it looks like the evacualtion order was lifted and your town is not going to get hit too bad.

Did you have to leave? Are you back? Hope all is ok. Stupid fucking Gustav....

Well we had to leave .... We were about 4 hours away from home in Austin. We got on th road at 130 PM and have been stuck in bumper to bumper for the last 4 hours .... Should have been home 2 hours ago... And from the looks of it it will be another two hours still...

Luckily my husband has no issues with throwing the truck in four wheel drive and finding ways off the interstate so that I can pee lol....


All this over less than an inch of rain and a storm that even had we taken a direct hit we wouldn't have left for it....

Sigh. I wanna be home....
